ECO RESTORATION PROJECT
REPORT
Aim of the project: Eco restoration of the Coastal ecosystems for biodiversity Conservation,
sustainable livelihood and disaster mitigation in SN Puram Panchayat.
Western Ghats Hornbill foundation, Research department of Botany MES Asmabi
College, NSS unit of MES Asmabi Collage and BMC SN Puram Grama Panchayat is
co-ordinately conducting the project of 'Eco restoration of the Coastal ecosystems for
biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihood and disaster mitigation in SN Puram
Panchayat. The project aims to restoration of various ecosystems in one of the coastal
panchayath in the central Kerala region. The coastal ecosystems are modelled, niche
profiled and restored based on scientific protocol and planning with the involvement of
local community. The project aims to address heterogenic composition of vegetations in the
different ecosystems including seashore, stream channels, backwaters areas and sacred
groves. Proper and indigenous plants are propagated locally and planted based on the
community composition, monitored and maintained for the future. This also aim to enhance
biodiversity, water security, cultural and recreational values and sustainable livelihood
through resource management.

As part of Eco-Restoration project of the coastal ecosystems for biodiversity
conservation; sustainable livelihood and disaster mitigation in SN Puram
Panchayath; 5 NSS Volunteers of MES Asmabi College; P, Vemballur went to
project site on 12th of July 2021.Volunteers took plantlets from college nursery
and took length of the area of project to be done. Volunteers also involved in
cleaning works along with kudumbashree workers.

As part of Eco-Restoration project of the coastal ecosystems for biodiversity
conservation; sustainable livelihood and disaster mitigation in SN Puram
Panchayath; 7 NSS Volunteers of MES Asmabi College; P, Vemballur went to
project site on 14th of July 2021.Volunteers planted the previously collected
plantlets from college nursery within the measured area and watered it.
Volunteers also involved in cleaning works along with kudumbashree workers.By
12:30 the works had completed.

As part of Eco-Restoration project of the coastal ecosystems for biodiversity
conservation; sustainable livelihood and disaster mitigation in SN Puram
Panchayath; NSS Volunteers of MES Asmabi College; P, Vemballur went to project
site on 15th of July 2021.Volunteers collected plantlets from college nursery and
planted them after measuring the area.Volunteers watered every
plants.Volunteers also involved in cleaning works along with kudumbashree
workers.

Date: 19th July,2021
As part of Eco-Restoration project of the coastal ecosystems
for biodiversity conservation; sustainable livelihood and
disaster mitigation in SN Puram panchayath; NSS volunteers
of MES Asmabi College P; Vemballur went to project site on
19th of July 2021.Vollenteers collected plantlets from college
nursery they also broke some sticks and placed them beside
plantlets that are already planted for support.

Date: 20 July,2021
As part of Eco-Restoration project of the coastal ecosystems
for biodiversity conservation; sustainable livelihood and
disaster mitigation in SN Puram panchayath; NSS volunteers
of MES Asmabi College P; Vemballur went to project site on
20th July 2021. Volunteers took plantlets from college nursery
and planted it. They also watered the plants and broke some
sticks and kept it near plantlets for support.
Eco-Restoration Report [Day-6]

Date: 26 July,2021
As part of Eco-Restoration project of the coastal ecosystems
for biodiversity conservation; sustainable livelihood and
disaster mitigation in SN Puram panchayath; NSS volunteers
of MES Asmabi College P; Vemballur had kept new plantlets
in the college nursery. Some plants were kept together in
same bag. They filled some bags with sand and coconut fibers
in order to separate them. Thereafter volunteers went to
project site and planted some trees including mangroves.

Date: 22 July,2021
As part of Eco-Restoration project of the coastal ecosystems
for biodiversity conservation; sustainable livelihood and
disaster mitigation in SN Puram panchayath; NSS volunteers
of MES Asmabi College P; Vemballur went to project site on
22nd July 2021. Volunteers watered plants in college nursery
and took plants to the site. On the same day panchayth
president visited the site and planted trees along with
volunteers.

Date : 10th September ,2021
As Part of Eco-Restoration Project of costal ecosystem for
Biodiversity conservation ; sustainable livelihood and
Disaster migration in SN Puram Panchayath;
Around 9 NSS Volunteers under the control of 2 NSS secretries
of MES Asmabi College , P. Vemballur went to the site
on 10th of September 2021.
Volunteers engaged in making supportive and protective cages
For the already planted plantlets by using sticks , which they
Have brokened from the nearest areas.

Date: 11th September,202
1As a part of Eco-Restoration Project of the Coastal Ecosystem for Biodiversity conservation;sustainable Livelihood and disaster migration in SN Puram Panchayath; 10 NSS Volunteers under the control of an nss secretaryof MES Asmabi Collage P.Vemballur went to project Site on 11th September 2021. Volunteers planted the remaining plantlets and also made Some protective cages and supportives for the plantlets usingSticks and plastic rope.

As a part of Eco-Restoration Project of Costal Ecosystem for
Biodiversity conservation ; sustainable livelihood and
Disaster migration in SN Puram Panchayath;
About 7 NSS Volunteers under the control of NSS secretry
Devadevan of MES Asmabi College , P.Vemballur are went
to the working site on 13th of September ,2021.
The planting work is almost completed and protective and
supportive cage making is now underway ,so they brokened
Sticks from the nearest places and made them a by using
Plastic ropes and those sticks.
